Comment Privacy

To help spam detection, we collect your IP address and browser user agent string, as well as the data shown in the comments form when a user leaves a comment on the site.
To check if you are using the Gravatar service, an anonymous string constructed from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided. For more information about the privacy practices of the Gravatar service, please visit https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment has been approved, your profile picture will appear next to it.


Media

If possible, avoid adding photos to the site that contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS) to improve your privacy. Location data embedded in uploaded images is freely available for site visitors to download and analyze.


Cookies

You may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies if you leave a comment on our site. You can save them to avoid having to re-enter your details the next time you leave a comment. The shelf life of these cookies is 12 months.
We use a session cookie to remember if your browser is set up to accept cookies when you visit our login page. When you close your browser, this cookie, along with any personal information it contains, will be deleted.
In addition to saving login data and display preferences in cookies, various cookies will be set at the time of login. The cookies set for access are valid for only two days, but those for customizing the display remain active for a whole year. A “Remember Me” login will be kept active for 14 days. When a user logs out, the login cookies are deleted.
Cookies are small text files that websites you visit store in your browser. Other than the post ID of the article you just edited, this cookie contains no personally identifiable information. Within 24 hours, it will no longer be valid. Furthermore, informing people that we use cookies is a minimum privacy requirement for European states. Content from other websites that have been incorporated

Embedded content (videos, images, articles, etc.) may be present in some articles on this site. Every time a user interacts with an embed from another website, it is as if he himself had visited that website.
If you have an account on one of these sites and you are logged in, the site may collect information about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and track your interaction with embedded content.


Data retention period

The comment you leave, along with its metadata, will be archived for the foreseeable future. This way, any subsequent comments will be immediately approved upon detection, eliminating the need for a moderation queue.
We also collect and store the personal information that users provide in their user profiles if they choose to register on our website. User profiles are fully editable by all users (except the username) and can be deleted at any time. The information can also be viewed and edited by site administrators.


Ownership of information and access rights

We are happy to provide you with an electronic copy of your personal information (including any data you have provided to us) if you have created an account or commented on the site. You have the right to have us delete any information we have collected about you. Except for information that needs to be retained for administrative, legal, or security purposes, we will not collect or store sensitive data. We care about your privacy.

A spam detection bot could be used to look into visitor comments.
